SEX AND EATING: A VERY CLOSE RELATIONSHIP

Our bodies, as humans, are tied to certain needs. All of us are made of compounds of chemical substances that impel us to satisfy those needs. On one hand those to eat, feed; and, on the other, and among many others, the one to have sexual relations. The responsible of those needs are the chemical stimulants phenylethylamine (PEA) and norepinephrine, both makes us alert, alive, excited and animated.

Also, these two activities imply the use of the senses, as both to eat and for sex we use the sense of smell, touch, sight and taste. Therefore, giving our partner something to eat during sex may help increase excitement. Sexual instinct may be reinforced ingesting certain food substances, some of them make us think of sex just by smelling or seeing them.

The most sexual menu

With this article we can get an idea of the menu to offer when we want to go for the kill with that possible lover. A light dinner, vegetables and some meat or pasta, a bit of wine, a dessert with chocolate and cinnamon and, above all, calmness and psychology when seducing.

Although food can be an ally, it’s important to also watch your conversation and flirting together with exquisite flavour. Here are the clues for an unforgettable night:

1.Chocolate was considered and aphrodisiac soon after its commercialisation from America. In the XVII century, its ingestion was even banned for monks and nuns in fear of its effects at the convents and monasteries. Chocolate contains PEA which provokes a “high” or a feeling of euphoria. It liberates dopamine, a substance related to all kind of excitement, whether it’s an orgasm, betting or using drugs. Pure chocolate contains more of this substance than any other, although it’s not the only one, also avocados, tomatoes, almonds and Cheddar cheese. Just the smell of almonds heightens a woman’s libido as well as improving the health of her heart.

2.Any food that reminds you of a banana may awaken in the partner the idea of having sexual relations. This fruit, in particular, provides a great dose of potassium and vitamin B, excellent for the sex hormones.

3.Ginger and ginseng contribute to the improvement of the nervous system. Cinnamon and nutmeg are considered a sexual stimulant. Lemon, mint, cardamom and pineapple are said to improve the taste of semen, the opposite of onions or garlic.

4.Any romantic dinners is accompanied by a good bottle of red wine which will animate the evening and will ease the flirting between you. But remember you must drink moderately because otherwise the date will go to waste. Apart from not remembering what you have said or done and diminishing the genital sensitivity, getting drunk decreases the DHEA, that is, the feminine sexual impulse. In men, testosterone diminishes and affects the blood vessels which may mean difficulties in having an erection. For both, alcohol decreases the level of oxytocin which diminishes the sense of touch.

5.As for the use of cream, honey, chocolate, flavoured lubricants, etc, think for a moment about the expiry date and how sticky everything gets after using them. In reality one feels like having a shower.

6.Tomato. Fruits and vegetables are very recommendable for a sexual life without problems as they clear the arteries from cholesterol and prevent heart attacks and erectile dysfunction. But tomato in particular contains a substance related to vitamin A that helps maintain a healthy prostate, a substance best absorbed if we cook the tomato with a bit of olive oil.

7.Nuts and hazelnuts have a high level of arginine acid, crucial for the synthesis of nitric oxide, a component in the human body related to erections. On the other hand, nuts, hazelnuts or almond oils are the total opposite of saturated fats or trans fats, highly damaging for health, those contained in industrial pastries and so many other things. Also, recent studies have confirmed they help reduce cholesterol.

8.Pumpkin seeds are a great source of zinc but are also full of nutrients, including antioxidants such as selenium and vitamin E, highly recommendable to improve arteries.

9.Olive oil. Saturated fats and trans fats ally to obstruct the arteries but monounsaturated help unblock them, therefore, the daily consumption of olive oil and the reduction on industrial foods improve sexual life.

10.Wheat germ. Normally, it’s very difficult to achieve a good quantity of Vitamin E when we are dieting, however, wheat germ is there to helps us maintain the arteries clean of fats.

11.Oysters and any other kind of mollusc are considered a good ally source of male virility. Oysters are rich in zinc, an essential mineral for reproduction and their sexual life. Careful about eating them raw because they don’t always come from clean waters.
